Charles and I took our little bambino to Mothers Day Out today. It's only his second day in three weeks since the hurricane. He cried but I think he'll be ok. The ladies are very nice and I think he'll have fun once he starts playing with the toys and everything. His sleeping has been all messed up lately. After this wedding this weekend I am going to get serious about trying to train him again. He was doing so good for months and months and now he wakes up 2 or 3 times a night. Tomorrow Charles plays in Brazoswood. We are excited to play football again after two weeks off!

New Pictures

Here are some new pictures. These are of our evacuation and trip to see the grandparents and Ty's birthday party.
Things are starting to get normal again after a week of chaos. Charles still doesn't have to go to school. They don't go back until 9/29. We are having to retrain Colton on how to go to sleep. He got used to sleeping in the same room with Mommy so now he fights going to bed. He was doing so good for so many months. Oh well. He is getting better. Last night he slept all night. Yesterday was Ty's birthday party and Colton had a blast! Again, I will post pictures once I get them downloaded. I have not been very good about that lately. I need to get serious about my diet again. This week has thrown me off. I haven't been to a meeting in about 3 or 4 weeks and that is really messing me up. I will get back in the swing of things though!

We've got the Power!

We finally got power on last night around 7:30. We had read that it might not be on until after Oct. 2 so we were totally bummed. Then one of our neighbors called to tell us the power was back on and we were pumped! Now it's time to get this baby back into his routine. He has been waking up for the past few nights screaming bloody murder. Last night was probably one of the worst. He woke up around 11:30 and then on and off every 15 minutes or so until around 4. He just wouldn't settle down. We watched Hi 5, we tried sleeping on mommy, nothing worked. Finally I had him laying on me on the couch and when he was dead asleep, I laid him in his bed and he slept until around 7:30. Needless to say Charles and I are exhausted! I still have not downloaded the photos from our trip to Granbury. Once I get those downloaded, I will post them. Charles is still out of school. Not sure when they will return. They have a meeting today with the football players though. I have been back at work since Tuesday. Tomorrow is my 29th birthday but it doesn't really seem that important right now.

IKE

We are all OK after IKE! On Wednesday night, after Charles's game, (which they lost by one in overtime) we packed up 2 dogs, 2 cats and a cute baby and started driving north to Midlothian to stay with Mark and Beth. We got there around 4:30 am and got a couple of hours of sleep before the baby woke up. Then we made our way to Granbury to stay with Charles's parents. On Thursday we just hung out and played with the animals and then on Friday we went to visit the great grandmothers. We watched the storm roll through on Friday night. I kept in contact with my family which had stayed at the house. On Saturday morning after everything passed, I spoke to my mom and she said they lost their fence on all sides and there neighborhood had some pretty large trees and tree limbs down. They drove over to our house and we lost our fence and our awning in the backyard was completely mangled up, but we got through it just fine. On Sunday, we packed up and drove home. Going through Houston was weird. There was some pretty bad damage downtown. Buildings with the glass blown out. Of course, no one had power. It looked like a war zone. We got home and accessed the damage ourselves. Our house is fine. We went over to my moms and they already had everything at their house cleaned up and the fence back up for now. They were cooking on the grill outside so we ate dinner there. We then packed up and went to stay at Mark's. His apartment has power. He has a one bedroom apt. though and it was me and Charles and the baby, my mom and dad and Mark and Monique. We had blow up matresses and everything turned out ok. On Monday we hung out at my moms and they grilled again for dinner. Today I am back at work where they have power and internet and just got a text from Charles saying my mom has power back! Now we know we have some place to go if we don't have power back today. The weather is great here and it's very nice. We stayed at our own house last night and it was actually a little chilly. I took lots of pics and will post them when we get power back.

Mother's Day Out

Yesterday was Colton's first day of Mother's Day Out. I packed him a cute lunch in his football lunchbox and we were ready to go. I had a meeting at work so I couldn't take him, so my mom took him. She said he cried when she left. I got to pick him up though and the teachers said that they all cried from about 9:30 until 10:00 and then they were fine after that. I think he will be fine and it's good for him to be around other kids his own age. He hasn't been feeling well lately. He's had a runny nose and a little cough and his eye teeth are in/coming in so he hasn't been sleeping that well the last few nights. It's been hard for me to get used to that since he has slept perfectly through the night for so long. It's just a phase and he will get back to normal quickly I am sure. Tonight is Charles's freshman game at home and then tomorrow night is the first home varsity game. Charles will be on the sidelines with the headphones on so that's a huge deal! We are very excited!! I'll post first day of school pics when I get them downloaded.

Our Weekend

Our weekend started out Friday night with the Alvin/Clear Springs Football Game. Clear Springs won! I got this really great pic of Charles and Colton after the game. It's my favorite picture ever! Colton had a blast and stayed up way past his bedtime, but he was having so much fun. He loves football and playing in the stands and running around. On Saturday we went swimming at Markie's apartment pool and then when Charles got off work we all went to eat at the new Vegas Grille. They don't have high chairs and according to the hostess they don't cater to children. Whatever. He had french fries and, like his father and grandfather and uncles, loves ketchup! On Sunday, Colton woke up with a runny nose. We took him to the wildlife animal place in Dickinson and he had a blast. He rode a horse and loved looking at all the animals and birds. This week is the start of mothers day out. Tomorrow, my baby is starting school and I can't take him because I have a meeting. I will pick him up and take him Thursday though. Here are some pictures of our weekend. Charles plays on Thursday and was told he would be on the field wearing headsets! It's his first home game so we are very excited about that! We also go see the neurologist on the 18th about his back. I'll keep you posted.

Success!

Last night's open house was a success. There are 7 kids in his class. 5 boys and 2 girls. Five of them have names starting with a "C". He is one of the youngest but he'll be just fine. We were the first ones there and he just went and started playing with all the toys. His teachers are sweet older ladies. He starts next Tuesday so I will be sure to let everyone know how he did. Tonight is the big game in Alvin. Thank goodness it's closer this week! Last week in Spring was pretty bad, especially since the baby fell asleep at the game but woke up when I put him in the car and never really went back to sleep very good until we got home. It stresses me out when he cries in the car. Charles got the results from his MRI on his back today and they said he has a herniated disc. His dr. is referring him to a neurologist because the disk is close to a nerve. We will know what the next step is when he goes to that dr.

Tonight is open house for Mother's Day Out. I am excited about it. Colton will get to meet his teachers. He has two of them. Charles has a freshman game in Alvin tonight and tomorrow is the varsity game in Alvin. We are meeting at one of the coach wives houses, eating and then going to the game. I can't wait to wear my bedazzled shirt. I need to wash it tonight because I wore it to the Labor Day BBQ last weekend for the fun of it. I had a really weird dream last night. I dreamt that I went to my high school reunion again, but this time Sheri was sitting at a desk using a breast pump, Justin brought his wife and she was wearing a red see through dress with black underwear, Kyla Kossum was there and she was crying and my neighbor, Rudy, from across the street was the Emcee. My dream reunion was way more entertaining the the actual thing!

Talking, waving and waterbabies

Last night we had waterbabies again. Colton loved it except for being on his back. He did better this week than he did last week though. All he wants to do is jump in the pool and throw the toy fish around. We did go under water this week. He liked that. I'm glad he likes the water so much. One less worry for mommy! His vocabulary is getting bigger every day. He is learning where his eyes, nose, mouth, hair, feet and belly button are. He is very good at finding his button and nose. He says "eyes" very well, but doesn't point to them yet. Yesterday he grabbed his hair when we asked where his hair was so he is catching on. He is trying to communicate a lot now. Once he figures out how this whole vocab thing works, I don't think he'll shut up! Wonder who he takes after? This morning when I was leaving to go to work, my mom and Colton were outside and I was waving to him saying bye bye from my car and he started waving! He never waves even though I know he can. It was the cutest thing! Tomorrow is open house for mothers day out. We are excited about that.

Labor Day Weekend

Our labor day weekend started out with Charles' first varsity football game. They played Spring Dekany and won 21 -12! Colton really liked the game and hanging out with the older kids, but around the third quarter, he was out. I got my new Coach Wife shirt. It is bedazzled! Anyway, I can't wait to wear it on Friday for the Alvin game so I can match with all the other coach wives. :-) (being sarcastic!) On Saturday, my mom and I took Colton to the Children's Museum. It was so much fun! There is a toddler room where you can just let them run wild and play with the balls and flip switches on and off. You know, all the fun stuff. Then we painted his face and he had a ball. Sunday we didn't do a whole lot. Just hung around. Charles and I went to dinner Sunday night and mom and dad watched the baby for a couple of hours. Monday, mom and dad had a BBQ so we went over there. That was our weekend. We enjoyed it. This is a big week for Colton! Tonight is swimming and we think Daddy will be joining us! That will be fun. Then Thursday is his Open House for Mother's Day Out which he starts Tuesday, Sept. 9. We got him a new lunchbox. It is in the shape of a football and is very cute. I have attached pictures from our weekend.
